DeadCode Slot

Deadcode slot

Deadcode is a futuristic-themed slot from ELK Studios. Set on a 5x5 grid, the slot has a 96% RTP, 5,000x max win, and medium volatility. My review will outline the multiplier mechanic, subroutine features, and complex gameplay.

Deadcode Pros & Cons

Pros:

     Cluster-pay format

     Five subroutine features

     Three bonus symbols

The medium volatility caters to most strategies

Cons:

The £0.20 minimum bet could be lower

     Difficult to understand gameplay

Deadcode Gameplay & Theme

Deadcode features 5 rows and 5 reels. A cluster pays mechanic is used, meaning that there are no fixed paylines. Win by forming clusters of symbols that connect adjacently. Symbols are replaced after each win, giving you a chance to earn consecutive payouts.

I was impressed by the global multiplier, which increases by 1x after each cascade. There are also five subroutine features, a collector mechanic, and the breach feature. The gold “W” is the wild symbol, and it can substitute other symbols, bar the bonus, to help create winning combinations

Deadcode Paytable

A cluster of at least 3 matching symbols is needed to win. The symbols are Asian-style letters. Blue, teal, and green are the low-paying symbols. Pink, red, and chrome offer high payouts. 32 matching octopus symbols trigger a 250x payout!

Deadcode Graphics

When players launch the Deadcode slot machine, they are transported to a sci-fi world. Set in a futuristic Asian city, I enjoyed the neon lights, skyscrapers, and attention to detail. The graphics aren’t the most modern.

However, you won’t find many online slots that make you feel like you are playing through a virtual reality headset. The soundtrack is equally impressive, and extra sounds play after wins and at other key moments.

Deadcode Bonus Features

Five coloured lines are displayed beneath the reels. Each features a unique icon meter, which fills after each win featuring the same colour. 3 symbols are needed for the opening colour, 5 for the second, 7 for the third, and 10 for the last. Subroutines activate when no more combinations are available. These are the five subroutines:

  •  Mystery: All symbols transform into an X pattern.
  • Terminate: 1-3 symbols are removed, and the global multiplier increases.
  •  Upgrade: All one symbols are transformed into higher-paying options.
  •  Refactor: 3-5 unsuccessful symbols turn into wild, bonus, or super bonus symbols.
  • Refresh: All regular symbols are removed, and the grid grows by 1 row. 7 is the maximum.

The breach bonus game can trigger at random after each game round. At this point, all non-winning symbols are removed. 3+ bonus symbols will activate seven bonus drops. The more generous version is triggered when the combination features a Super Bonus symbol.

Our Opinion on Deadcode Slot

Deadcode a new release and available on many online casinos. With cluster pays, unique bonus features, and a sci-fi feel, there is plenty to enjoy with this ELK Studios title. It just might take you a while to get your head around the gameplay. I would recommend Deadcode to players looking for structure, speed, and reactive sounds.
